Cast aluminum alloys are mainly divided into the following four categories: aluminum silicon alloys

Cast aluminum alloys are mainly divided into the following four categories: aluminum silicon alloys, aluminum copper alloys, aluminum magnesium alloys, and aluminum zinc alloys. ‌‌
Aluminum silicon alloys, also known as silicon aluminum alloys or silicon aluminum alloys, have good casting and wear resistance properties, low thermal expansion coefficient, and are the most commonly used type of cast aluminum alloys. Its silicon content is usually between 4% and 3%, and sometimes 0.2% to 0.6% magnesium is added to further improve the mechanical properties and heat resistance of the alloy. This type of alloy is widely used in the manufacture of components such as pistons.
Aluminum copper alloy: It has high strength and thermal stability, but poor castability and corrosion resistance. Due to the presence of copper, alloys are prone to intergranular corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. This type of alloy is mainly used for sand castings that can withstand large dynamic and static loads.
Aluminum magnesium alloy: It has good corrosion resistance and high strength (about 355MPa), with a low density (2.55g/cm ³). This type of alloy has good corrosion resistance in the atmosphere and seawater, and is commonly used to manufacture parts such as radar bases, aircraft engine casings, propellers, landing gear, etc.
Aluminum zinc alloys: Silicon and magnesium elements are often added to improve performance, known as zinc silicon aluminum alloys. This type of alloy has a self quenching effect under casting conditions and can be used without heat treatment. After stabilization treatment, the castings have high strength and dimensional stability, and are commonly used to make models, templates, and equipment supports.
These classifications are based on the types of major alloying elements, each with its unique properties and application areas, suitable for different industrial needs.
